Engineering the Future
Mission Elementary is a unique school in APS! It is the only school in APS with a Project Based Learning science curriculum in all grades k-5. The Project Lead the Way science program starts students on a learning path, fostering engineering, robotics, and coding skills necessary to pursue technical careers of the future.
Students can expect hands-on integrated science, technology, engineering and mathematical lessons with access to all the tools necessary in the rapidly changing STEM field. Engineering habits of mind, such as curiosity and resourcefulness, will be fostered in all disciplines.
There are amazing opportunities and events happening at Mission with ETF! A new STEM lab with a maker space and engaging hands on activities will be opening this fall! Partnering with Air Force Research Labs, Open Source Kids provides robotics instruction and coding classes for the students building skills that will transfer to future science classes, and other academic disciplines. Sandia National Labs is providing opportunities for field trips, and participation in a simulation, Mission to Mars, in which collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking are keys to success!
